Aboriginal Students Celebrated

On Thursday, June 2, United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts and N’Swakamok Native Friendship Centre proudly hosted the 13th annual Aboriginal Secondary School Awards (ASSA). The event welcomes hundreds of high school students, teachers and community members to celebrate the achievements of Aboriginal youth in our communities. The Ontario Volunteer Service Awards recognize individual volunteers for continuous years of commitment and dedicated service to an organization. Adults are recognized for five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30+, 40+, 50+ and 60+ years of continuous service. Youth (under the age of 24) are recognized for two or more years of continuous service. Last night, United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts celebrated its successes from 2015 during its Annual General Meeting. The Board of Directors, staff, members and volunteers continued the tradition of celebrating United Way's 34 year history in this community. Income Tax Volunteers Celebrated

On Tuesday May 11, volunteers of United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts’ Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVIT) were celebrated for their significant contributions during the 2015 tax season. GenNext, a program that encourages people in their twenties and thirties to become involved with United Way through giving and volunteering, and United Way staff hosted a volunteer appreciation event to recognize their achievements.“Our Community Income Tax Program volunteers are truly remarkable!
