2016 Campaign Chair - Paul Kusnierczyk
If you asked most people what they know about the United Way, they would likely respond that it is a fundraising organization, investing funds in programs and services delivered through social services agencies throughout the community. But the delivery of resources is only a part of what the United Way does, and money alone is not enough to bring about impactful, long-term change... in fact, it requires much more than that. Simply put, it’s about people helping people.
With a powerful voice for social change, United Way inspires people from all walks of life and mobilizes them into taking action. It is only by working together that we can strengthen all aspects of our community and truly improve the lives of those in need.
No other charitable organization is as driven to unite individuals, social services, government, labour groups and businesses, with the sole purpose of building a better place to raise our families and to work alongside one another.
United Way exists to champion and inspire sustainable change by working in partnership with key stakeholders to leverage the collective strength that exists within our community. Reducing poverty, ending domestic violence, creating opportunities for newcomers, empowering youth - these are only some of the complex and interconnected issues which require purposeful community collaboration.
Since 1982, engaged Sudbury citizens have united and successfully raised over $40 million dollars to help those in need, which has helped build a healthier, more vibrant community. To be part of that is something truly special. I believe that United Way provides the foundation for positive social change and I am proud to be the 2016 Campaign Chair. I look forward to another successful campaign while working with the dedicated Campaign Cabinet, Board of Directors and exceptional United Way staff.
Together, we are possibility.
