VALE INCO STAFF EMPLOYEES RAISE $154,272 FOR SUDBURY UNITED WAY VALE INCO CONTRIBUTES AN ADDITIONAL $400,000
Sudbury, November 6, 2009 – Vale Inco announced today that it will contribute $400,000 to the 2009 Sudbury United Way Centraide campaign in addition to the $154,272 raised by Vale Inco staff employees in Sudbury.
“The amount of money raised by our staff employees during this difficult time is something that makes all of us at Vale Inco truly proud,” said John Pollesel, Vice-President, Production Services and Support, Canada/UK Operations and General Manager, Ontario Operations. “It illustrates a deep-rooted commitment to our community and a willingness to help others who are in need of our support. It goes a long way to making Sudbury a better place to live regardless of the circumstances.
“We know the United Way is impacted by fewer available donors at Vale Inco this year which had the potential to impact our employee matching program, so it was important to us to maintain the contribution levels that the Company was able to provide last year,” added John. “We want to show our continued support of the United Way and the work it does in our community.”
United Way Centraide Sudbury & District officials expressed surprise and gratitude at the generosity of Vale Inco staff employees and that the company was able to maintain its contribution levels in lieu of reduced employee contributions.
“It goes without saying that Vale Inco cares about our community. The Company’s generosity to make such a contribution will truly make a difference in the lives of so many,” said Michael Cullen Executive Director, United Way Centraide Sudbury & District. “On behalf of all our funded programs, I’d like to thank every staff employee at Vale Inco for their donation. No matter the size of the contribution, every cent counts and we truly value your trust and commitment.”
