United Way/ Centraide Community Grant allows the Sudbury Youth Rocks Music Program to bloom!

The Sudbury Youth Rocks Music Program began over 18 months ago with initial grant funding from United Way/Centraide, and as a result of local funding, this unique and ever expanding program has been able to grow from five participants to 17. The program was developed specifically for our community to “provide music lessons to youth who are at risk of conflict with the law or who do not have the opportunity to play a musical instrument and who want to learn music and join a band.” says John Howard Society’s executive director, John Rimore.
United Way/Centraide found this program to be creatively distinct and relevant to the needs of youth in the community and was able to grant one time funding of $6,500 to develop and eventually become financially sustainable. Sudbury Youth Rocks has now secured $20,000 in funding from Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci.
This is just one of the many examples in which United Way/Centraide supports local programs which may only need a one time grant to get their feet off the ground and become an established program offering support and guidance within our community.
By donating through your workplace to the United Way/Centraide Community Fund you are helping programs such as this to evolve and build a stronger, better Sudbury.
Every Deed! Every Donation! It ALL Matters!
