The Leadership Development Program (LDP) is one of the ways that United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts' strives to realize its vision. LDP is a program that offers governance and management support to ALL organizations in the voluntary sector, not only those that receive program funding.

Closed TrainingLDP offers individual board training, which we call closed training, as it is not open to participants from any other organization. Usually the President and Executive Director meet with the volunteer trainer(s) and the Program Manager to discuss the specific needs of the board. One or more training modules is developed for and delivered to the organization. This is the most effective way for boards to develop, as everyone is "on the same page." Training can cover such areas as Board Roles and Responsibilities, Board Models, Meeting Management etc.
As well, LDP offers limited facilitation services for such areas as strategic planning and visioning.
LDP offers a self-evaluation tool for Boards of Directors. Board members and senior staff complete a questionnaire. From this information, a report is generated outlining the strengths and weaknesses of the organization, as per the opinions of its members.
